Brian Posehn: Fun, Fun, Fun

brian-posehnItchy shins, cooler weather, and a muddy mess where Zilker Park once stood can only be indicative of one thing: ACL is over. However, Austinites need not mourn; next month brings the 4th annual Fun Fun Fun Fest. While Austin will, of course, play host to a large number of brooding musicians on this November weekend, she will also welcome into her weirdness a few slightly less serious guests– comedians.

One comedian scheduled to appear, Brian Posehn (pronounced poe-sane), has been generating national buzz for years while still remaining largely under-the-radar. In case you’ve never heard of him, here’s a quick Posehn primer:

Age: 43

Hometown: Sacramento, CA

Discography: “Live in: Nerd Rage” Debut stand-up album, 2006

Notable Roles: In Tim and Eric’s first Adult Swim program “Tom Goes to the Mayor” Posehn played Tom’s community college friend, half-man, half-beast Gibbons. Gibbons was notable for his tiny stature, his mumbled speech, and his deep-seated love for recreational deer riding and Caesar salads. Posehn’s understated humor and subtle use of physical comedy made Gibbons one of the most memorable, albeit infrequently appearing, characters in the entirety of the show’s run.

In Comedy Central’s “The Sarah Silverman Show,” Posehn plays Sarah’s gay, herb-loving, oreo-loving neighbor, Brian. Posehn and Steve Agee, who plays Brian’s partner, have a hilariously awkward chemistry that often makes the Sarah Silverman Show laughable when nothing else does.

Others: Cast member on HBO’s “Mr Show,” Jim (voice) on animated show “Mission Hill,” Mortician on “Reno! 911,” Wisdom Cube (voice) on Adult Swim’s “Aqua Teen Hungerforce”

Visit Brian Posehn’s Myspace for more information. Posehn is scheduled to appear at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX on Sunday, November 8 at 8:00 p.m.
